• Мы используем used to + инфинитив без частицы to, чтобы говорить о прошлых привычках и состояниях. Мы используем его, когда говорим о вещах, которые люди делали в прошлом много раз, но которые они не делают сейчас.
I used to eat a lot of sweets when I was a child. (В детстве я ел много сладостей.)
• Мы не используем used to, чтобы говорить о действиях в прошлом, которые мы совершали только один раз. В таких ситуациях мы используем past simple.
We went to Bulgaria on holiday last year. (Мы ездили в Болгарию на каникулы в прошлом году.)

We use used to + infinitive without to talk about past habits and states. We use it to talk about things that people did in the past many times but that they don’t do now.

We don’t use used to to talk about actions in the past that we only did once. We use the past simple in these situations.
